Karrin Allyson Earns Career-defining Coverage Via AP, USA Today And More For New Cd 'Round Midnight
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ New England Jazz Ensemble) Grammy-nominated vocalist and pianist Karrin Allyson has received rapturous, career-defining coverage from some of the top journalists in America for her understated new album 'Round Midnight. In his lengthy Associated Press CD review, Charles Gans praised the music as "darkly beautiful and melancholic," and added, "Allyson is a consummate jazz singer whose harmonic feel and storytelling skills enable her to evoke the heartache and pathos of both older and more contemporary songs." In USA TODAY, critic Elysa Gardner selected the track 'Chasing Rainbows' as her 'Pick of the Week', calling it no less than "a revelation, with a shivery pathos that's haunting and alluring." A previous USA TODAY 'Round Midnight write-up by Gardner praised Allyson's "exquisite voice and elegant delivery."

With this new album, her thirteenth on Concord Jazz, Allyson has not only been embraced by her core jazz audience (evidenced by a No 23 to No 5 jump on the JazzWeek charts,) but has also extended her appeal to mainstream, Broadway/Theater press, syndicated radio, web-based editorial outlets, regional television and much more. From Sirius/XM airplay via radio legend Jonathan Schwartz to NPR Piano Jazz and WNYC updates, from WBAI in-studio interviews to ALLMUSIC, All About Jazz and Theatermania reviews, from THE CW Network/WGN-TV appearances to Boston Globe 'Pick of the Day' concert previews and much more, Allyson has seen a wave of favorable coverage greet her elegant, dreamy new collection - a sampling follows below.
