NEW YORK (MTV Europe announcement) - Videos by artists like The Strokes and The White Stripes will not disappear from MTV in Europe after a deal was struck with independent record labels. A row between MTV Europe and a group of independent record labels has been resolved. MTV had wanted to reduce the money paid to artists for allowing them to show their videos by 55%. Talks broke down last month and it had seemed that videos by The Strokes, Craig David and The White Stripes would be taken off the MTV Europe schedule. Details have not been released on the deal, but the Association Of Independent Music said it was "very happy". MTV Europe said in a statement that it had "always been the home of independent music and artists".
