Oakland, CA (Top40 Charts/ RootsJazz Productions) RootsJazz Productions announced that on May 14, 2011, Amikaeyla, the multi-award winning vocalist, percussionist, teacher and human rights activist, who MTV said, sounds like "velvet waterfalls" and who according to Jayne Sanchez of KCSM's FM 91 Jazz Oasis has "...an innate ability to interpret and convey her musical objectives with [ ] infinite grace and authenticity..." , will appear at Avonovamusic in the hip Temescal/Rockridge district of Oakland with a group of SF music legends to create the kind of burnin' set that is rarely seen in the Bay Area in such an intimate space. The all-star band features Ray Obiedo on guitar, David BeLove on bass, Greg Rahn on keyboards and Brian Collier on drums - and represents the finest in SF Bay Area Jazz musicianship - demonstrated by the many Grammy nominations they share as well as their sessions with everyone from Herbie Hancock to Santana. This hot set of Jazz and Funk is the first in an innovative series of conversations - both conventional and musical - dubbed ImproviSoul (https://www.ImproviSoul.com) that will occur throughout the Summer. Amikaeyla's series will highlight the astounding breadth of musical talent in the Bay Area from Jazz and Soul to Folk and Hard Rock while providing the lucky attendees with the rare opportunity to participate in multiple ways - as audience members, conversationalists and for the most intrepid, musical participants!! This series seeks to highlight just how conversant Bay Area audiences are in an array of musical styles and to create a space for musicians and their tribes to truly communicate with each other. Each date will be a collective creation - combining sets by the musicians with space for conversation and jamming with the audience members. About the Band: Amikaeyla and her RootsJazz Quintet are preparing for an international tour in support of the upcoming CD release of "Being In Love" which is due out in the Fall.
