Santa Monica, CA (Top40 Charts/ Great Scott Productions) Fans of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from around the world will have the opportunity to chat live with one of the show's correspondents and writers in an exciting new setting. Comedian Wyatt Cenac will host an interactive video chat on Comedy Central's Jokes.com website, which will be utilizing innovative technology pioneered by Yowie.com on Friday, May 13th at 1 pm ET/10 am PT.
During the chat, Cenac will take questions asked by fans on live video and those submitted via text. The full Yowie experience will be embedded on the Jokes.com website, which will provide thousands of fans the chance to interact with Cenac and with each other live. Yowie's core technology allows up to eight camera shots to be seen at one time: the host, two callers, and five viewers that are waiting on deck to ask their question.
Another Comedy Central personality, British comedian-actor John Oliver, an Emmy winner for his work on The Daily Show who presently has a recurring role on NBC's Community, has hosted a show on Yowie, which is finding favor with comedians as well as actors, athletes and musicians as a cutting-edge social media tool used to interact with fans. Comedian Matt Besser hosts a weekly show on Yowie called The Back Room. The program consists of Besser broadcasting live from his home studio as well as streaming live performances from the comedy venue Upright Citizens Brigade.
"Personalities from comedy, music, film, television and sports enjoy hosting shows on Yowie because it makes video chats a safe and convenient way to interact with a virtually unlimited audience while allowing those in attendance to interact with each other," said Jamie Snider, co-founder of the Santa Monica-based Yowie. "Most social media sites are one way exchanges. Yowie provides the unique experience of multiple interactions and live exchanges. Talent is finding Yowie to be an effective, efficient and cost-effective part of marketing and promotions campaigns, and publicists are starting to build shows on Yowie into their clients' press days. Anyone can host their own show on Yowie from anywhere in the world."
Yowie anticipates teaming with Comedy Central for additional shows. Other major entities harnessing the power of the social network that was unveiled last summer at Comicon include Disney, DreamWorks, Dublab.com, Epix, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Personalities including Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure), Amy Poehler (Parks & Recreation), Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation), Dianna Agron (Glee, I Am Number Four) and Lennox Lewis (former boxing champion) have hosted shows on Yowie.
