Javier Asensio Appointed Regional Director Of IFPI Latin America
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ IFPI) IFPI announces today that Javier Asensio is to be Regional Director of IFPI Latin America. Javier is currently IFPI Latin America's Director of Performance Rights, having led the successful expansion of the industry's performance rights strategy in the Latin America region in recent years.

Javier Asensio, who takes up his new position on 6th May, has been instrumental in making Latin America the region with the fastest-growing public performance rights revenues in the last few years. Collections rose 21% in 2010 alone and revenues have increased by seven-fold to over US$140 million in the last decade.

Javier has worked for 11 years in the Miami-based IFPI regional office and, prior to that, headed the performers collecting society in Spain.

IFPI CEO Frances Moore said: "Javier comes to his new role with a fantastic record in the performance rights sector in Latin America and a long and impressive experience of the music industry. I look forward very much to continuing to work with him on IFPI's major priorities in the Latin America region."

Javier Asensio said: "I am very pleased to take on the challenge of helping the music business find its way to being properly remunerated through all the channels available in the digital age."
