Steven Van Zandt will celebrate the 9th anniversary of his nationally syndicated radio show
Little Steven's Underground Garage by airing an unprecedented conversation with guest
Bruce Springsteen over the course of three consecutive weekends, April 1, 8 and 15.
Van Zandt and Springsteen sat down in March at the Underground Garage studios for what amounts to the first-ever documented long-form conversation between the two musical comrades. The appearance marks Springsteen's first visit to the show, which has previously hosted Keith Richards, Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, Ray Davies and others. The unique conversation - loose, fun and full of laughs - opens a window on the period during which Springsteen and Van Zandt's lifelong friendship was cemented as the two discuss their musical pilgrimages from New Jersey to Greenwich Village in the mid-60's, and spin the songs that inspired and brought them together as musicians.
Beginning with the first installment, Van Zandt and Springsteen will cover the pop and novelty songs of their youth before moving on to the British Invasion in the second show, and music's evolution into the rock era of the late sixties and seventies in the third.
Little Steven's Underground Garage is the most successful syndicated rock radio show in the country. LSUG posted its highest Arbitron ratings ever in 2010, with a weekly audience of over 1.2 million listeners in the U.S. alone. It is now in over 200 markets including 5 countries around the world, and 9 countries via the American Forces Network.
