Jazz Saxophonist Dee Lucas Will Perform At The Famous Blue Note Jazz Club On April 2, 2011
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ APM Public Relations) Make It Happen Entertainment, in association with the Blue Note Jazz Club, is proud to welcome Jazz Saxophonist Dee Lucas to join the ranks of great jazz musicians performing at the Blue Note Jazz Club. Lucas will make his live performance at the Late Night Groove Series at the world's famous Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Tickets are $15 and ShowTime is 12:30 a.m. Blue Note Jazz Club is located between 6th and McDougal St. For ticket information, please call (212) 475-8592.

"It is truly such an honor to be performing at such a prestigious landmark as The Blue Note because many jazz legends that have come before me made their mark in this venue. Both past and present jazz giants created The Blue Note to what it is today, and I am very gracious to be in good company with them," says Lucas. Blue Note Jazz Club has become one of the premier jazz clubs in the world and a cultural institution in Greenwich Village. Owner and founder Danny Bensusan had a vision to create a jazz club in Greenwich Village that would treat deserving artists with respect, while allowing patrons to see the world's finest jazz musicians in a close, comfortable setting. Artists who had stopped playing in jazz clubs decades before, such as Sarah Vaughn, Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Stanley Turrentine, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, and Tito Puente, soon called Blue Note home. After twenty-five years of success, Blue Note continues to carry the torch for jazz into the 21st century in the cultural heart of New York, Greenwich Village.

Lucas, a self-taught 42-year-old Atlanta-based artist didn't pick up the sax until the age of 28. However, as a child growing up he always dreamed of being a musician but instead he pursued sports due to financial constraints. He first came to prominence in 2004 with his debut CD, "Remembrance", which is a tribute to legendary saxophonist George Howard. Since his well-received debut, Lucas has been greeted with stunning reviews, garnered extensive airplay and consistently climbed charts and branded his timeless sound in the smooth jazz market. He developed his distinctive style by collaborating urban funk sounds to smooth melodic that is both relaxing and soothing to the ear. In 2007, his sophomore CD, "Something to Ride 2" received heavy rotation in many smooth jazz markets with the Herbie Hancock classic "Chameleon", which peaked at No 10 on the Smoothjazz.com "Top 50 Indie Charts".

His recently released CD, "Standing Room Only", is climbing the charts and receiving international radio promotion. With great songs such as the title track "Standing Room Only", "Tiffany's World" and "Keep Knocking", this nine song, smooth sounding compilation has received airplay from numerous internet, and satellite radio stations worldwide. "Standing Room Only" is the current single and title from his latest CD and was produced by bassist Lee Hurst. "I wrote this song in collaboration with Lee with an 'atmospheric' attitude in mind. I wanted a record with high energy, yet, smooth enough for any environment to embrace. I think the record is 'house-driven' which gives it a world sound. That's the direction I would like to continue penetrating as an artist. Not just a contemporary jazz artist, but a world artist," says Lucas. "Tiffany's World" is a ballad written for his daughter. Written by talented pianist Drea, "Tiffany's World" is a journey of Lucas' daughter who was born three months premature. It describes her struggles during the initial 58 days in the neonatal intensive care unit to her happy arrival at home. "Keep Knocking" is a testimony of perseverance, inspiring others not to give up in life. Produced by drummer PJ Spraggins, Lucas says, "I co-wrote this song with him definitely for the contemporary jazz lovers but thinking slightly outside the box melodically. It's definitely a record I will quite often perform in a live setting."

"My new CD is special because it offers a wide array of styles coming from various producers pushing the envelope in contemporary jazz. The end result forces me to continue growing as an artist and deliver fresh music for my fans," says Lucas.
