NEW YORK (50 Cent Fans Website) - On February 8th, top selling artist 50 Cent was shut out at the 2004 Grammy Awards. The rapper, who was nominated in five categories, lost to Evanescence for the Best New Artist prize, his fifth and final loss during the ceremony. That didn't stop 50 from walking up on stage as Evanescence accepted their trophy. While in England this week, Hannah Sung asked about the stunt and ended up opening a whole can of worms. "I feel like I got jerked at the Grammys and it's because I'm aggressive," said 50 Cent. "Some people say there is violence in my material, and there is. There's violence in the world also and my life has been violent so I write about my life." "Because my lyrical content is aggressive, they [the Grammys] are selective and they say you need to say and do things certain ways. It's obvious. I have the largest selling album this year period but I win no awards at the Grammy awards." As for Evanescence, 50 Cent has no hard feelings. "I like Evanescence's song but I only really got into one song so far. So I don't understand how they get best new artist when it's only one record when you know you still have to prove yourself past that record." When asked if he had anything to say to singer Amy Lee, 50 said he would congratulate her.
As for the Grammys, 50 Cent has made his decision: "I will never go back to the Grammy awards ever in my career I don't care how many I've won. I'm sure next year I'll win it because I don't intend to stop putting out good material but because they decided to do that this year I've no interest, and no awards."
