New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Royal Music Finland) One of the greatest tenors in the history of opera, Placido Domingo, will perform in Finland on August 24th 2011. The 70-year-old artist will give a rare concert at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki.
Placido Domingo, one of the greatest and most celebrated tenors of the of the 20th and 21st centuries -recently turned 70 years of age. Moreover, 50 years ago, Domingo's first performance as a leading tenor (Alfredo in La Traviata) took place in the city of Monterrey. Even now, after all these years, he has not lost his vocal freshness and brilliance, or his dramatic conviction. He will be performing only a few times this year: in United States, Japan and Central Europe. The King of Opera's Finland concert will be the only one in Northern Europe.

I've had the opportunity to perform in Helsinki three times; the last was in the darkest days of winter, so I am especially looking forward to being there during the bright summer days and maybe seeing a little more of Finland's wonderful countryside.'
Placido Domingo is a multifaceted artist, recognized not only as one of the most influential tenors in the history of opera, but also as a respected conductor and actor. He has performed in Finland in 1998, 2000 and 2003. This concert is a rare opportunity to experience the world-renowned tenor's voice, capable of tremendous power and velvety gentleness. Even at his age, Domingo's gifts and energy remain undiminished. The concert consists of a selection of arias and duets from opera, operetta, musical, zarzuela and popular songs. Placido Domingo will perform together with soprano Virginia Tola, one of the winners of his Operalia competition; accompanied by the Lohja City Orchestra and the Polytech Choir; and conducted by maestro Eugene Kohn.
