North Hollywood, CA (Top40 Charts/ Megatrax Music) Megatrax Music, the leading independent production music source for film, broadcast, advertising and multimedia, is shining a spotlight on its third-party catalogs during its 20th anniversary year, starting with LA Riot, the brainchild of Chronic
Music and
Killer Edge founders Eric Cunningham and Chris Lang. The catalog, which came to Megatrax in 2008, features high-energy extreme sports tracks, shredding rock and techno, banging hip-hop and ultra-groovy retro styles.
Cunningham and Lang agree that the unifying philosophy behind the music in the LA Riot catalog is "Authenticity," saying that the compositions in the catalog were inspired by real-life experiences in young and urban environments, that the tracks feature top-tier musicians, and that the music rings true to the genres represented. Says Lang: "We always strive to make albums-to do it 'real.' We actually sound design some of our stuff to get authenticity."
Agrees Cunningham: "It's important that we actually live the lifestyle. We've never been hardcore into the urban thing, but we always strove to get the club sound right."
Megatrax will be feting the catalog with a party for the LA Riot fans and clients in March and showcasing tracks from the catalog at the party and subsequent anniversary events. To sample tracks from the LA Riot catalog, please visit the Preview Library at www.megatrax.com.
