The Iridium Hosts Jim Weider & Garth Hudson, Regina Carter, Danny Kortchmar And More In February
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Leading Manhattan music destination The Iridium has booked an exciting and eclectic lineup this February, featuring a mix of guitar heroes and jazz innovators. In addition to the club's trademark Les Paul Mondays series-which features the late guitar giant's trio with a different special guest each week-The Iridium will host Telecaster master Jim Weider with The Band's Garth Hudson, groundbreaking violinist Regina Carter, session wiz Danny Kortchmar, and many more. Here's just a few of the highlights:

Feb 4-6 - Regina Carter's 'Reverse Thread': Jazz violinist and recent 'Genius Grant' recipient Regina Carter's 'Reverse Thread' breathes new life into traditional African folk songs, embracing the musical effects of the Diaspora by layering African rhythms with harmonies originating in India and the Caribbean. After her recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert, Felix Contreras described Carter's music as "transporting," praising "her never-ending thirst for new ways to bring unexpected sounds to her violin."

Feb 11-13 - Freda Payne Celebrates the Great Ladies of Jazz: For the past two years, Freda Payne's Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald has enjoyed sold-out performances around the world. She's shared the stage with Lionel Hampton, Sammy Davis Jr., Quincy Jones, and many more in her distinguished career, and this month she'll celebrate the legacy of Ella, Lena, Sara, and other female jazz icons with the help of vocalist Jane Monheit.

Feb 17 - Jim Weider's Project Percolator w/ Garth Hudson: Called "The King of Tone" by Relix, Weider replaced Robbie Robertson in the reformed Band in 1985 and has more recently played lead guitar for The Levon Helm Band. He'll be making his Iridium debut backed by Project Percolator, featuring special guest and founding member of The Band Garth Hudson.

Feb 24 - Danny Kortchmar: As a first-call session player in the 1970's Kortchmar played on seminal albums by Carole King, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, and Harry Nilsson. He went on to helm major releases in the 80's for Don Henley, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne, and Neil Young. He co-wrote numerous hits including "Dirty Laundry," "Somebody's Baby," and "All She Wants To Do Is Dance." Fresh off the worldwide 'Troubadour Reunion' tour with Taylor and King, Kortchmar makes his Iridium debut with an exciting new project focused on his remarkable career.

Les Paul Mondays in February will feature Steely Dan lead guitarist Jon Herrington on 2/7, acclaimed vocalist Jane Monheit on 2/14, Grammy and CW Handy Award-winning blues guitarist Joe Louis on 2/21, and Tommy Cash on 2/28 in a special tribute to Johnny Cash. Also appearing at The Iridium in February are the Valery Ponomarev Big Band, Graveshift, Murray Hockridge Dave Kilminster, Rogiers, The Andreas Oberg Band, the David Gilmore Quintet, the Phoebe Legere Quartet, Buster Williams, Terese Genecco Her Little Big Band, and The Manhattan School of Music Presents: Jazz at The Iridium.

About The Iridium:
Deemed "hallowed ground" by iconic guitarist Steve Miller, The Iridium stage has played a part in launching the careers of countless artists, though it may now be known best as Les Paul's second home. The late guitarist performed at The Iridium weekly for more than 12 years until his passing in 2009. Today, the Les Paul trio continues on in his honor, performing Monday nights with guests that have included guitar gods like Steve Miller, Jeff Beck, and Zakk Wylde, as well as many others.
