Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ Susan G. Komen for the Cure Los Angeles County) Susan G. Komen for the Cure Los Angeles County is kicking off their new music series "Voices for the Cure" on January 26th, 2011 featuring recording artist
Avant and the popular event "RnB Live".
The event will celebrate the beginning of Black History Month to emphasize the importance of breast health in the African-American community, and to inform the audience about Komen's initiative for women of color called "Circle Of Promise". It is being hosted by RnB Live, a weekly music series that showcases live music in a jam session format. RnB Live is donating a portion of their admission fee to Susan G. Komen For The Cure L.A. County.
R&B Live is located at 12229 Ventura Blvd, Studio City; Doors at 9 p.m.
"We are thrilled to be part of this event. It is exactly what we envisioned music could do for Komen LA," says Deb Anthony, executive Director of the LA Affiliate.
Comedian Chris Spencer will be hosting and performers include some of the hottest entertainers in the industry - Avant, Rahsaan Patterson, Margo Thunder, N'dambi, Abraham McDonald and the Supa Lowery Bros.
Susan G. Komen, Los Angeles County's Music Events Chairperson is Stephen Fahlsing, who is a co-survivor. "I'm incredibly excited that we're kicking off this music series with such great artists," says Stephen. "Their willingness to give their time and talents for such a great cause is humbling and inspiring."
The "Voices for the Cure" music series will be a recurring concert series featuring various musical artists across all genres of music.
This event will also help promote the 15th Annual Race for the Cure on March 6, 2011 at Dodger Stadium. This year will feature a live performance by MTV feature artist Juke Kartel, whose single "Brightest Star" has become the anthem for survivorship worldwide. The race will also feature a survivor celebration, entertainment along the race route, celebrities and local news coverage of the event.
