NEW YORK (Eminem Fan Website) - A federal judge ruled yesterday that The Source magazine can distribute clips of controversial unreleased Eminem songs. Last week, the rapper was granted an injunction blocking the magazine's plan to include a free CD in their February issue featuring two freestyles which include racially offensive terms. The magazine countered with a plan to distribute 20-second clips from the two songs. The shorter clips were deemed acceptable by the court under a law which allows "fair use" of copyrighted material for the purpose of criticism. Eminem has apologized for the songs, which he says were made as a teenager after breaking up with an African-American girlfriend. The clips will be available on a CD in The Source's next issue, due out on January 12. The decision was also supported by Eminem's lawyer who said, "I don't seek to prevent anyone from engaging in public discussion in a public forum. They just can't steal."
