Such class begins with a lot of musical training and experiences throughout his life, beginning in Detroit where he was a notable "musical prodigy", writing, singing and arranging on the piano at the tender age of eleven. He was a founding member of the legendary Detroit funk band Brainstorm and can be heard playing on the band's most celebrated album, Stormin'. This Must Be Heaven. Early in 2008, RJ Ross released his debut album Face To Face under the name Professor RJ Ross the project was accompanied by a group of world- renowned musicians he likes to call The University of Soul. Professor RJ Ross and The University of Soul's album encompasses six originals and six standards that properly showcase Ross's solid songwriting skills, sharp piano work as well as shows off his talent as an arranger. Face To Face delivered all the years of hard work and experience RJ had acquired, the well-made album was released under Capitol Records and is currently climbing up the Smooth Jazz Charts around the country.
