New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Pitch Artist Services) - Newark's hometown girl, Shariese Katrell, has been singing since the age of six. Music has always been very important and has helped her through many difficult times including epilepsy. Shariese's epilepsy was diagnosed a year after high school. From then on life started to change. She had to drop out of college because she would pass out in class. She felt trapped in her house like a prisoner. She was having seven seizures a day. She worried that no one could help her. Life became a daily struggle and because of her severe seizures, she underwent brain surgery in 2008. After the surgery things began to change, Shariese returned to school and finished college. She started to get her life back, day-by-day, healing through music. Shariese invites the world to join her, Friday, January 28th, 2011 to celebrate life, love and determination with the release of her debut EP, "Shades of Determination," which will take place on the third anniversary of her brain surgery. What Shariese had to say: "I'm determined to have the world know my story and inspire others like me. I mean... my music saved my life! Music heals and people need healing now more than ever. This is my way of giving back... through my music, to inspire... to share my story... to heal others."
