NEW YORK (R. Kelly Fan Website) - R. Kelly's attorneys launched a series of motions earlier this week in an attempt to get the child pornography charges against the singer dismissed. While prosecutors in Illinois have had no comment on the defense move, officials in Florida - where Kelly faces additional charges - have announced that their charges against Kelly will be "unaffected by what occurs in Chicago."

Kelly is charged in Florida over several images found at a home rented by the singer which prosecutors allege show him engaged in sex acts with a minor. At the time the Florida charges were filed, a defense attorney for Kelly said that the images were connected to the Illinois case. Though Florida prosecutors declined to reveal details of their case against Kelly, a key difference may be the fact that the age of consent is 17 in Illinois while it is 18 in Florida.
