New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) - Recording artist, DJ, and producer Blaqstarr will release The Divine EP on N.E.E.T./Interscope Records on January 25th, 2011. The six-song collection is the Baltimore native's debut recording for N.E.E.T., the label imprint launched by British/Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A.

Blaqstarr, often known as DJ Blaqstarr, experienced local success in the early 2000s with a series of tracks he released via his own Starr Productions label. He is well-known for his songwriting and production work on M.I.A.'s 2007 album Kala and 2010's MAYA. He also scored a 2006 club hit, "Shake It Down To The Ground," after discovering Baltimore dance-rap dynamo Rye Rye, whom M.I.A. has also signed to N.E.E.T. Over the last two years, Blaqstarr has released a mixtape, 2008's King of Roq (on Diplo's Mad Decent label), toured with Diplo, M.I.A., and Rye Rye, and participated in the 2008 Rock The Bells tour. He has also produced tracks for Mos Def, Switch, Talib Kweli, and K-Swift, among many others.

Constantly evolving as an artist, Blaqstarr is now stepping out with The Divine EP, which showcases his fearless and relentlessly experimental brand of electronic hip-hop. "There are no bounds for my music," he says, "so expect to experience every one of your best feelings when you listen to it." FADER has praised one of its tracks, "Oh My Darling," calling it "a simple loop with Blaqstarr's melancholy plea, something between Kanye, Prince, and Robin Thicke - direct and driving."

Check out Blaqstarr live when he performs at KCRW's Halloween Masquerade Costume Ball & Dance Party on October 30th at the Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
