New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - "Go-go music," the Wall Street Journal recently explained to its readers, "at least when Mr. [Chuck] Brown serves it up, is an undeniably infectious strand of dance music...It seems a physical impossibility to listen to Mr. Brown's band while remaining completely still." That's obvious on "We Got This,' Brown's new 3-disc set (live CD/DVD, 5-song disc of new material) out now on Raw Venture. It was equally apparent to anyone who heard Brown and his 12-person band on a recent NPR "Tiny Desk Concert" or saw him play with The Roots on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' in September. Watch Brown's 'Tiny Desk Concert' here: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130083430 Brown, the "godfather of go-go," was recently named one of the 45 most-influential people who shaped Washington, D.C. by The Washingtonian, along with Ronald Reagan, Cathy Hughes and Bob Woodward. Jet said that Brown "reinvigorates the [go-go] style... imbues go-go with swinging jazz overtones and grit from the blues,' and Billboard said, simply, that the 74-year-old 'still knows how to get a party started."
