The Museum At Bethel Woods Honors Jimi Hendrix

Bethel, NY (Top40 Charts/ Bethel Woods Center) - On Saturday, September 18, 2010, The Museum at Bethel Woods will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the passing of Woodstock legend Jimi Hendrix with a simple, solemn tribute honoring his life and music. Flowers will be placed at the monument marking the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, while a special mix of Hendrix music will play in the museum lobby. Guests are invited to visit The Museum to reflect on his life, music and legacy.

As one of the most influential and groundbreaking artists of the Sixties, Jimi Hendrix is featured prominently in the Museum's permanent exhibit in audio, video and photographic installations. Hendrix, considered by many the greatest guitarist of all time, headlined the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, delivering one of the most groundbreaking performances in rock history to close the festival, with his virtuosic improvisation of 'The Star Spangled Banner'.

The Museum at Bethel Woods, part of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, is an immersive and captivating multi-media experience that combines film and interactive displays, text panels and artifacts to tell the story of the Sixties and Woodstock. Located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair, it explores the unique experience of the Woodstock festival, its significance as a culminating event of a decade of radical cultural transformation, and the legacy of the Sixties and Woodstock today.

Guests can also enjoy artifacts, new images, a video compilation of rare Woodstock footage, interviews, home video, and live music audio from the festival in special exhibit Collecting Woodstock: Recent Museum Acquisitions, on display thru January 2, 2011.
