New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Snackable Media) - There's nothing quite like the MTV Video
Music Awards, where rock star shenanigans are encouraged and outlandish fashions take center stage. With Lady GaGa, Eminem,
Taylor Swift and
Kanye West expected to be in attendance, the 2010 VMAs could become the most talked-about entertainment event of the year. Voters at mobile communities like Snackable Media's Predicto.com have been answering polls about which artists will take top honors, as well as what surprises might be in store for viewers.
Lady GaGa dominated this year's nominations, receiving 13 nods, including Video of the Year for "Bad Romance." She's poised to surpass Peter Gabriel's record nine VMA wins, and 73% of voters at Predicto.com believe she'll do just that. Many fans also expect nothing less than a jaw-dropping appearance from the unpredictable and at times, bizarre, icon. One Predicto member says "she deserves the wins. She's the best since Madonna, and I hope she shows Katy Perry how it's done."
Like Lady GaGa and Katy Perry, Ke$ha made her mark on the music scene due to her outrageous persona and hit songs. Both pop divas snared VMA nominations for Best New Artist in years past, as did Ke$ha this year. GaGa won the award in 2009; can Ke$ha do the same in 2010? According to everyone from Predicto's mobile voters to legions of swooning Twitter followers, pint-sized pop star Justin Bieber will take home the award instead.
Viewers will definitely be tuning in to see if any outbursts rival last year's "Kanye incident", when the volatile West bum rushed Taylor Swift's VMA acceptance speech, launching a drunken tirade and viral tidal wave. Since it was the defining moment of last year's telecast, it's hard to imagine that Kanye would not use these VMAs for a chance at redemption. This year's host Chelsea Handler has said that she hopes to reunite West and Swift at Sunday's show. 68% of the Predicto mobile community thinks that the two stars will indeed share a stage once again.
The MTV Video Music Awards would be just another long awards show without the drama and excitement that its nominees and performers deliver each year. While there is no doubt that people will be discussing the show on Monday morning, it remains to be seen which star will create the greatest water cooler buzz.
