NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ W&W Public Relations, Inc.) - Chart-topping recording artist
Jay Sean announced today his partnership with Keep A Child Alive (KCA), the organization found by Grammy Award winner
Alicia Keys and humanitarian Leigh
Black to provide AIDS treatment, care & support to children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
"Before I became an artist, I was on my way to becoming a doctor, and I was half way through my medical degree before I got signed," says Jay Sean. "My sole reason for wanting to become a doctor was so that I could spend my life giving to others, helping people in a position of need and making a positive difference in the world. And though I am living my dream as an artist, that desire to help others never died. Being a part of Keep A Child Alive has allowed me to do just that, knowing that I can use my celebrity for good, being able to give to those that really need it. To be able to raise awareness for such an important cause that can help to save so many lives and bit by bit make the world a better place, is a blessing and I am honored to be associated with such a cause."
Jay Sean's work with KCA will primarily focus on their initiatives in India, the country that is the foundation of his family roots. His grandparents lived in India until they moved their family to England in the 1960s. The initial campaign will begin with a nationwide texting campaign that mirrors KCA's approach to engaging consumers on all levels. By texting JAYSEAN to 90999, a $10 charge will be donated to KCA and provide funding for life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, as well as support the Blue Roof Wellness Center (in Durban, SA); Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry; Agape Child Care Center; Operation Bobbi Bear; the Aanchal Care Home in Jalore, Rajasthan, India and the Sahara Aalhad Care Home in Pune, India.
ABOUT JAY SEAN
Jay Sean is the pop/R&B superstar who first received superstar recognition in 2009 when his out-of-the-box smash single, "Down," featuring Lil Wayne, became a worldwide hit. Selling over one million digital singles in less than eight weeks and reaching No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart twice in the same month, "Down" catapulted Jay Sean into a league reserved for few. Garnering over 100 million (and counting) views on YouTube, "Down" became Cash Money's first track to snag the No 1 spot on the Top 40 Radio Chart. Set to release his Cash Money/Universal Republic follow-up Freeze Time in stores and on all digital platforms in early November, the highly anticipated album, the singer's fourth, is the strongest realization of the singer's vision to date: a lethal combination of pop, R&B and dance music that bridges the singer's myriad musical interests. The energetic first single "2012 (It Ain't the End)," featuring hotly-tipped rapper and singer Nicki Minaj, is becoming one of the biggest hits of this summer.
