New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Sampone' Music Productions) - A new CD by Michael Simon, after the well-received 'Revelacio'n'. 'New York Encounter' is also the title song specially written for the recordings made in the Big Apple, inspired by the reunion of the Simon brothers, reinforced by a dream team of outstanding artists from the actual jazz and Latin music world. The repertoire varies from very groovy and energetic to straight ahead jazz and subtle pieces. New York Encounter was presented last November at De Doelen Concert Hall in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. De full Eduard Flipse stage was gradually lifted to a climax that caused the standing ovation that inspired the band to come back for an encore. Based in Rotterdam, born in Venezuelan and with roots in Curacao, Michael completed both jazz trumpet and jazz composition and arranging studies at the Rotterdam's Conservatory. In addition to leading his bands Roots United and Crianzas, Michael Simon is a long time collaborator for Gerardo Rosales, Fra Fra Sound, Conexion Latina and Randal Corsen.
