New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ IFPI) - IFPI Latin America's Internet anti-piracy team recently confirmed the closing of DDLatino.com, a popular direct-download forum site that was dedicated to the illegal distribution of Latin music genres, such as Reggaeton and Pop-Rock. DDLatino, a regional high-profile site, was under intense scrutiny by IFPI's regional group for several months before it was taken down. DDLatino provided more than 400 pages with links to unlicensed files. Prior to its closing, the illegal service enjoyed 15,000 unique visitors and 63,000 views daily, mainly from Mexico (34 percent) Spain (30 percent), and Peru (11 percent). The Internet Service Provider (ISP) undertook the action after it was informed of the massive copyright infringements. This operation is another important step in the fight to curb online piracy and the campaign to raise awareness among ISPs.
