Houston Orchestra Website) - The Eighth Annual Virtuosi of
Houston Concert and Dinner benefiting Virtuosi of
Houston a young artist's chamber orchestra in its fourteenth season. The event, 'Legends of the Future: Under the Colors of Mexico' in celebration of Mexico's bicentennial and centennial celebrations in 2010 will feature classical and popular music by Mexican composers including the world premiere of Mariachi Medley - a new work for mariachi and orchestra by Robert
Nelson for Mariachi Autlan and Virtuosi of Houston. A second world premiere of Canciones Populares Mexicanas also by Robert Nelson, will be performed by the Virtuosi orchestra. Andrzej Grabiec and Franz Anton Krager, founding artistic directors, will conduct the entire performance.
Proceeds from the dinner and concert event will enable Virtuosi in its mission of providing young talented musicians with valuable training in musical education and performance in their pursuit of a professional career in music.
Two acclaimed performing artists from Mexico, tenor GABRIEL GONZALEZ, flutist HORACIO FRANCO WILL PERFORM WITH THE VIRTUOSI ORCHESTRA. Award-winning Mexican chef and restaurateur MONICA PATIPO has created a special menu with the Executive Chef of the InterContinental Hotel PETER LAUFER to celebrate the event with our future legends- the talented young musicians of Virtuosi of Houston.
Lucia Navarro San Juan, of New Media Strategies, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.

WHY: The event is the most significant annual fundraiser for Virtuosi of Houston. Funds raised will allow Virtuosi to continue to provide excellence in chamber music education and performance to encourage young artists to fulfill their dreams. Financial assistance is also provided for tuition to those musicians whose families cannot afford to pay.
Virtuosi of Houston (VOH) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1996. The mission of the organization is to create a pre-professional climate and performance opportunities for Houston's most focused young musicians, regardless of race, religion or financial status and to bring an expanded repertoire of chamber music works to Houston.
