NEW YORK (Fortune magazine's '40 under 40' list) - Hip-hop's Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is still at the top of his game. He's the richest entertainer on Fortune magazine's first annual 40 Under 40 list, which is made up of 40 people in music, books, movies, videogames and TV who've become multi-millionaires before their 40th birthday.

The 32-year-old Combs ranked Number 12 and was listed as having earned $293.7 million on the list. P. Diddy is a rapper, producer and the owner of several businesses. His empire includes Bad Boy Entertainment, clothing line Sean John, Blue Flame Marketing and Advertising, and Justin's restaurants, and he's also the creative genius behind MTV's latest hit show, Making The Band 2.

Other top earners who made the 40 Under 40 list? Former NBA player Michael Jordan, Los Angeles Lakers player Shaquille O'Neal, golfer Tiger Woods, and rapper/actor/producer Will Smith.

FORTUNE is also publishing a US list for the fifth year. No inheritances of any sort are allowed on this list, which is dominated once again by 37-year-old Michael Dell, the computer magnate whose fortune has risen to US$17.12 bn. Chairman and founder of eBay, Pierre Omidyar is second with US$7.06bn, while Amazon's Jeff Bezos holds third place with US$4.85bn. Jeff Skoll of the Skoll Foundation is No. 4 (US$3.85bn), followed by Yahoo's co-founders David Filo (No. 5, US$1.45bn) and Jerry Yang (No. 6, US$1.28 bn). Next are Google co-founders Sergey Brin (No. 7, US$900 mn) and Larry Page (No. 8, US$900mn). Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins is No. 9 with US$740 mn. Last place on the U.S. top ten is Ken Griffin, President of Citadel Investment Group with US$725 mn.
