A film and DVD release for George Harrison tribute

LONDON, UK (Beatles Fans Website) - A film of last year's Royal Albert Hall tribute concert to George Harrison will be give a limited worldwide cinema release in November.
The film will then be released on DVD later that month, with all profits going to the Material World Charitable Foundation founded by the ex-Beatle in 1973.

The Concert for George will premiere in cinemas in London, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo before the release of the two disc DVD on Dark Horse Records.

The concert took place on November 29, 2002, the first anniversary of Harrison's death, and featured his former bandmates Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as well as Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Ravi Shankar, Joe and Sam Brown, Billy Preston, Jools Holland and Jeff Lynne.
It featured classic Harrison songs such as While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Taxman, Isn't It A Pity, Give Me Love and My Sweet Lord.

The first disc includes the entire concert. The second disc will consist of the version of the concert to be given a cinema release, interviews with those taking part and rehearsal footage.

In a statement, Harrison's widow Olivia said: "It was an indescribable evening and was captured beautifully on film.
I may be prejudiced but, in my opinion, The Concert For George is a classic performance as well as a historical musical document."

Meanwhile, previously unreleased tracks by Harrison will be included in a box set of his re-mastered Dark Horse catalogue due for release early in 2004.
