LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Intervurt Official website) - UK based Intervurt have posted their new single 'Union Square' online for streaming at www.myspace.com/intervurtrocks. The song is the first single from the group's debut album, 'Union', which hits stores on May 4th, 2010 through FOF Label Group/EMI. "This song was written in a Manhattan hotel room not far from Union Square when we were on our first visit to NYC. Inspired by our new surroundings, this song came together very quickly and was written in virtually half an hour," said Intervurt guitarist Mark Alberici about the song. "It's loosely based on the tragic Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that killed over 140 workers in 1911. The fire led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards which helped spur the 'Garment Workers' Union. The notion that no matter what you do, sometimes there's no one to come and save you. It's also about hard work not always paying off and as people we can only be pushed so far and take so much. It was one of the last songs written for the album and was a strong contender for the first single." Intervurt brew a smoking cauldron that bleeds light into dark, bending sound around an infectious blend of musicianship, melody and manic tones. The results marry Muse, the Killers and Queens of the Stone Age into a twisted aural honeymoon . The group's debut was recorded at Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios (David Bowie, The Rolling Stones) in New York City and was produced by Mark Plati (David Bowie, Prince, The Cure) and Tom McKay (Joydrop).
