New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - The Auctioneers - the bold, brash NYC rock and roll contenders - come out swinging with "Young Man's Blues," the first single off their self-titled debut EP out March 30. Following the mercurial, murky chords that open the song, the band kick into a meaty riff that showcases their knack for hook-laden rock and hip-shaking grooves. Intertwined in the muscular music are vocalist EB Sollis' ruminative lyrics, delving into being down and out and the feelings that well up inside from that experience, culminating in the chorus' desperate cry of "trying to find some help but it ain't there, I've got to shake these devils out of my hair." Check out "Young Man's Blues" here: https://soundcloud.com/feinberg/sets/theauctioneers-youngmansblues The song was written in the time leading up to the 2008 US Presidential election, and drummer Donovan Pyle says to him it captures "how a lot of people were feeling disenfranchised." The lyrics were written on the spot by Sollis, who says it "isn't a literal take on this recession, but more about being in a state of confusion about the future for myself and my friends." He adds it's "definitely taken on a different meaning since the time it was written." Already filling clubs in NYC, the band will be hitting the road extensively in 2010.
