NEW YORK (Mystikal Fans Website) - New Orleans-based rapper Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, was cleared by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals of copyright infringement on August 20. The rapper and his label, Jive Zomba Recording, were hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit by Emanation Inc. in 2001. The company accused Mystikal of using several phrases from its handheld toy, Cajun In Your Pocket, in his 2000 hit, "Shake Ya Ass." The court's ruling affirmed a lower court's decision that said the phrases, "We gon pass a good time, yeah, cher," and "You gotta suck da head on dem der crawfish," were not original and thus not protected by copyright law.
