STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (Top40 Charts/ Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra Website) - The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra is to be this year's touring orchestra for Toshiba Grand Concerts Tour 2010 and will tour Japan in February-March together with chief conductor Sakari Oramo. The programme features, among other things, Rolf Martinsson's concert overture, Open Mind, which will be performed in Fukuoka, Sendai and Hyogo, as well as at the two final concerts in Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Open Mind was commissioned by Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and opened the O"stersjo" festival in 2005, where the premiere was conducted by Manfred Honeck. The piece is often performed both in Sweden and abroad, e.g. in England, Germany, Finland and Estonia. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra Japan tour will give Open Mind its 36th performance and have indeed played the piece several times before, e.g. during the Stockholm International Composer Festival in November 2008, a festival shared by Martinsson and his Finnish colleague Kimmo Hakola.
