New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Midnight Kites Official Website) - February 2010: Denver based indie-rock/folk band The Midnight Kites have released their debut album The Color of Light, which is available through their website (www.midnightkites.com), as well as Amazon and iTunes. The full-length album was recorded at Denver's Notably Fine Audio, and produced by renowned pedal steel guitarist Sally Van Meter. The album features Jen Gilleran on drums (Gregory Alan Isakov), Philip Parker on cello (Gregory Alan Isakov), and Eric Moon (GogoLab, Jeff Finlin) on piano and keyboards.

The Midnight Kites are made up of married songwriting duo Jill (vocals) and Bruce (guitar) McDougall, as well as Jill's brother Connor DeFehr on bass.

Musically, The Midnight Kites land somewhere between indie rock, pop, and folk, with a hint of ambient country. Their songs are built around catchy pop melodies, and often feature unconventional structures. Their minimalist approach to arrangement combined with Jills soothing alto vocals creates rich depth and dynamics; the finely crafted rhythm section adds a traditional, timeless pop sound.
