New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ K&K PR/ K&K PR/ Cash Money Records) - Cash Money/Universal Motown Grammy-winning recording artist
Lil Wayne is gearing up to release his eighth album, Rebirth, on February 2nd. The album drops as Lil Wayne's new single, 'On Fire,' heats up radio. The direction taken on Rebirth reflects Lil Wayne's broad musical palette, showcasing rock, reggae, and new wave sonic influences juxtaposed against Lil Wayne's savvy lyricism and quick-witted rapping style.
The hottest rapper of the decade redefines retro with 'On Fire,' produced by Cool & Dre, who helmed five songs on Rebirth. Other producers include Infamous, DJ Nasty, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and Chase N. Cashe. In addition to stacking the deck with many of the hottest producers in the game, Rebirth features a highly touted collaboration with Eminem ('Drop the World'), along with guest appearances from Young Money artists Nicki Minaj and Shanell, and Cash Money rock star Kevin Rudolf.
This year, Lil Wayne will cap off an outstanding decade that included selling 10 million records and earning eight Grammy nominations for his multi-platinum 2008 album, The Carter III, which shattered records by selling over one million copies in its first week of release. The New Orleans native who hails form the rough streets of Hollygrove is already a seasoned artist who released his first tracks at age 12 after he was introduced to Cash Money CEOs Ronald 'Slim' Williams and Bryan 'Birdman' Williams. He released the first installment of The Carter series in 2004, which added to his platinum plaques, followed by The Carter II in 2006, which further solidified Lil Wayne's status as one of the best MCs in the hip hop game. But it was the critically acclaimed The Carter III that gave him his iconic stature in popular music, paving the way for his advisory role to grow as CEO of Young Money Records.
With the release of the Rebirth, Lil Wayne challenges himself by taking his music to the next plateau. 'I have evolved both lyrically and musically as an artist and I want everyone to hear my growing pains,' he says. 'This is probably my best work yet."
