New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Ashy L Bowz Official Website) - Ash Wednesday is not a day commonly celebrated by hip hop fans, that is unless you are a fan of the hip hop duo the Ashy L Bowz.

On Ash Wednesday of 2008 the group released their debut album No Lotion, the album features comedian Donnell Rawlings who is better known as Ashy Larry from the Dave Chappelle show. No Lotion was well received by audiences and critics alike and earned the group Independent Rap Album of the year and Hollywood Music Awards nominations, as well as an Underground Music Award among a host of other accolades. Although releasing several mixtapes in the interim the group took a hiatus from album releases, until now.

This Ash Wednesday, February 17th, the Ashy L Bowz will be releasing their sophmore album "The Great Repression". The new album features production from G Rydah and Music Mystro who have produced hits for artists like, Jim Jones, LL Cool J, Line for Line, The Clipse, Smif & Wessun & Juelz Santana just to name a few. The album artwork was photographed by celebrity photographer Dirty South Yankee who recently was booked as the exclusive photographer for Jay-Z's mothers birthday celebration.

The L Bowz say this album will have a few more mainstream radio friendly tracks but also give voice to many socio-economic issues that have never been discussed or put into to song by hip hop artists. The group also promises to still give their fans their dose of concept, off the wall lyricism, originality and their signature ash. The title "The Great Repression" as explained by the group is a combination of the words Recession & Depression, because as they put it "This recession is depressing." I would definitely have to agree. Look out for "The Great Repression on iTunes, Rhapsody & Amazon as well as on their site NoLotion.com.
