New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Myron Walden has achieved acclaim with his dynamic, propulsive and evocative jazz compositions, but on January 29 and 30, the saxophonist returns to his roots, playing two nights at New York City's Smoke. As a teenager, Walden spent every Friday and Saturday night in the snug jazz club Smoke (then Augie's), immersed in the music of bebop saxophonist Jesse Davis.

"I remember listening to Jesse Davis and being awed by his spirit. Well before I had training to understand the nuance of their music, I could feel what the band was doing. It inspired me," Walden says.

Walden has garnered significant attention and praise in the New York jazz scene; trumpeter Roy Hargrove sat in on a recent Myron Walden Momentum show at Smalls, where the line snaked out the door. In a recent Jazz Times feature, Aidan Levy writes, "Listening to saxophonist Myron Walden is like watching Daedalus fly too close to the sun - it's exhilarating to see him glide past chord changes and conventional jazz structures, but there's the constant fear that if he goes any higher, his wings will melt. Somehow, that never happens." (Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/6iQiW9 .)

'Momentum' and 'Momentum Live' were released in November while several pieces from Myron Walden In This World are due out January 19 with the albums 'To Feel' and 'What We Share.'
