NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Nick Howard Official Website) - Singer/songwriter and ASCAP member Nick Howard has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 ASCAP Foundation Robert Allen Award. Howard was a participant in the recent 2009 ASCAP Foundation Paul Cunningham Workshop in New York City. Howard's song, "Days Like These" was cited by the workshop panel for its overall craft, artistry, and compositional elements. "Nick is an incredible young songwriter and we are thrilled to be involved as his career takes off," commented Jason Silberman, ASCAP's Sr. Director, Membership & Creative Affairs.

The Robert Allen Award was established in 2006 by Patty Allen in honor of her husband, songwriter and ASCAP member Bob Allen, author of such standards as "Chances Are," "It's Not for Me to Say," and "Home for the Holidays." In the spirit of Allen's work, this cash award is presented annually to a songwriter in the pop and/or jazz musical genres participating in The ASCAP Foundation Paul Cunningham Workshop in New York. Past recipients include Rosi Golan, Joshua Meltzer and Shwa Lobsen.

Nick Howard is a singer/songwriter from Brighton, England who is now firmly rooted in the New York City music scene. His 2008 independent release, Something To Talk About, was the follow up to his freshman offering, Contradicted. Howard's music has appeared on the soundtracks of popular television programs and films including The Hills (MTV), LA Ink (TLC), Army Wives(Lifetime), The Ex List (CBS), Mental (Fox), and Gold Circle's My Sassy Girl. In 2009, Howard's song, "A Better Man," was chosen as the theme for the trailer to the independent film Knuckle Draggers. He has been a featured artist on Comcast's Backstagenews/entertainment program, a recurring spotlight artist on the popular Fearless Music Television, and a frequent interviewee and performing artist on BBC Television and Radio. Nick Howard was featured by Clear Channel's NEW! on www.iheartmusic.com as a top emerging artist to watch out for in 2009.
