New York (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Ledisi is closing up 2009 with a whirlwind of high-profile events and appearances - and even manages to squeeze in some community activism.

On November 3, Ledisi will appear at the 2009 Soul Train Awards, - an appropriate fit for this "soul diva" who "belts with rousing abandon" (PEOPLE). Ledisi will perform "Through The Fire" as part of a segment honoring Chaka Khan.

Ledisi will also be traveling with UNCF's Historically Black Colleges and Universities Empower Me Tour, which aims to motivate young people toward academic success and personal responsibility. Ledisi will bring her inspiring talent, ambition, and spirit to Hampton University on November 10 and Atlanta University on November 17, where she will perform and participate in panel discussions. She'll also continue touring with Mint Condition and Eric Benet. Check out tour dates here - https://www.myspace.com/ledisi .

You can also find Ledisi in the November issue of Essence, speaking candidly with "five smart and stylish sisters" (Essence) - actress Nia Long, producer Tonya Lewis Lee, singer Solange Knowles, TV host Tanika Ray, and celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen - on "Black women's love-hate relationship with [their] hair" (Essence).

'Turn Me Loose,' Ledisi's fourth studio album which debuted No 1 on the Hip-Hop/R charts, showcases the Grammy-nominated singer's "raw, aggressive vocal power and uninhibited songwriting" (Boston Herald) and "her raw-honey vocals soaring with hard-won authority and delicious abandon" (USA Today).
