New York (Top40 Charts/ Flawless & Basic NYC) - If you've been anywhere near a dancefloor in the last few years, you've certainly heard some of Nick Curly's music. To say that his sounds have caught on with international DJs would be an understatement; his red-hot fusion of deep, percussive house with techno elements has rapidly earned him a huge following worldwide. He'll making a rare visit to the United States on Friday October 16th, when flawless and Basic NYC team up to welcome the trendsetter to Williamsburg's North 8th, alongside the rising Venezuelan producer/DJ Delete, for the October installment of Verboten.
As the driving force behind his 8Bit and Cecille labels, Nick Curly has been a key player in the revitalization of deep house music worldwide. He is a core member of the group that has come to represent the so-called 'Mannheim sound', a collective of DJs, labels and producers emanating from Curly's hometown. Along with Johnny D, Gorge, Marcus Fix, Andomat 3000, SIS and more, Curly's productions have helped propel him to the forefront of today's underground.
His music is hypnotic, based around percussion loops that steadily and subtly build up energy. Paired with jumbo-sized basslines, dubby vocal elements and well-timed drops and breakdowns, Curly's tunes have become essential stuff for a huge range of DJs. Labels as celebrated as Saved, 20:20 Vision and Plastic City have all released his tracks, and after a summer spent as one of the regular guests at Sven Vath's Cocoon Ibiza fiesta, he's ready to continue his dancefloor dominance.
Joining Nick will be another in-demand newcomer, Venezuela's Delete (aka Sergio Munoz.) An incredibly diverse producer, Delete is equally as comfortable dishing out banging techno as he is Latin-tinged house, and has been featured and supported by heavyweights like Steve Lawler, Dubfire and Richie Hawtin. He's quickly built up a wide-ranging discography of killer undeground releases, and his appearance at the lineup will compliment Curly's sound perfectly.
Smack dab in the heart of Williamsburg, 213 North 8th is quickly becoming one of New York's favorite new party spots. With a brand-new sound system being set up prior to the night, the club will be rocking on October 16t. Basic NYC's Sleepy & Boo are co-presenting the night with Flawless, with Illich Mujica from Techtonic Division warming up the party. Best of all, there will be free entry before 11:30pm for those guests who RSVP.
