Lenny Kravitz is doing the pop star thing and dropping his last name at least for the title of his sixth studio album.
Lenny, due
October 23, features Kravitz on vocals, guitars, bass, drums, organ and stylophone, his Virgin Records publicist said
Thursday (August 9). He also produced the album, with assistance from engineer Henry Hirsch, who has worked on all of the rocker's records.
Kravitz's guitarist, Craig Ross, co-wrote two songs and played on three, the publicist said.
The first single from the album, "If I Could Fall In Love," will hit radio and video outlets by the end of August.
Lenny will also feature a track called "Bank Robber Man," about Kravitz's experience being mistaken for a bank robber by police in Miami Beach, Florida, last November. "Do you think that I am the one that did it/ Just because I'm tan?" Kravitz sings on the song. "Just then the officer at hand said/ I don't give a damn that you are in a rock & roll band."
Kravitz released his Greatest Hits last year, which featured the new single "Again." His last studio album was 1998's 5, which included the hit "Fly Away."
