New York (Top40 Charts/ FYIPR) - 'REPLAY,' the debut smash single from rising island pop star Iyaz, who was discovered by super producer J.R. Rotem and international pop star Sean Kingston, is number 6 on iTunes Top 100 and number 6 on iTunes Pop Chart and is quickly climbing up the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The infectious melodic single has fans across the country already claiming it an instant hit. 'Replay' is now in rotation on two of the most influential stations in the country, Los Angeles' KIIS FM and New York's Z100. With an explosive week at radio the Top 40 / Mainstream chart has him up 422 spins making him one of the top gainers. He has gone from *38 -*32 on the chart. New adds include Y100/ Miami, WIHT/Washington, WKSC - KIIS / Chicago, WIOQ/ Philly among numerous other markets.
At just 22 years old, Iyaz is by no means a new face in popular music. He is part of the thriving new genre, 'Island Pop,' coined by his mentors, Sean Kingston and J.R. Rotem - a fusion of rap, reggae, pop, and a perfect blend of island sounds. While his hit new single 'Replay' jumps up the charts and takes over top 40 radio stations across the country, Iyaz is gearing up to release his debut album which will be solely produced by J.R. Rotem in early 2010.
Born in the U.S. Virgin Islands but raised in the British Virgin Islands, Iyaz signed to Kingston's newly-formed production company, Time is Money Entertainment. 'Iyaz's songwriting style is timeless and universal,' says J.R. Rotem, the in-demand songwriter and producer who crafted most of the tracks on Iyaz's album.
Rotem subsequently signed Iyaz through Time Is Money to Beluga Heights, which has a new label partnership with Reprise Records. 'Iyaz is a storyteller who paints visual scenarios that tug at the listener's heart-strings,' says Rotem, who also discovered pop sensation Sean Kingston.
In fact, it was Kingston who first stumbled across Iyaz's MySpace page in May 2008, liked what he heard, and recommended him to Rotem, who has also worked with 50 Cent, Britney Spears, and Rick Ross. Now Kingston and Iyaz are inseparable as friends and as musical partners. With J.R. Rotem and Sean Kingston behind Iyaz, he is destined to become the next break out star in this new genre of Island Pop music.
