Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake, has earned numerous accolades for his debut album The Opposite Side Of The Sea and his stunning music video for 'Her Morning Elegance,' (viral-with over 12 million views on line). Oren will be performing at the 2009 BUMBERSHOOT FESTIVAL on Monday
September 7, 2009 at 5PM on the Northwest Court Stage. Tickets for BUMBERSHOOT are on sale now. Immediately following his performance, Oren will be signing copies of his new album The Opposite Side Of The Sea at the FYE booth on site at BUMBERSHOOT.
Oren Lavie will be performing at the Doug Fir in Portland, OR on Saturday September 5, 2009 at 10PM, Tickets on sale 8/13/09. (The Doug Fir is located at 830 Burnside, Portland, OR 97214). OREN will also perform songs from The Opposite Side Of The Sea on the 101.9 KINK-FM Lounge to air on Saturday September 5th.
Many people across the globe are already familiar with Oren's stunning music video for 'Her Morning Elegance' which has prompted not only copy cat commercials but also inspired artists like Coldplay to use of stop motion animation in their music videos. The video for 'Her Morning Elegance,' was featured in a national ad campaign for Chevy Malibu, was featured in Brian Williams' "Inside The Obama White House" special on NBC and has become a global youtube phenomenon; created and Co-Directed by Oren Lavie and Yuval and Merav Nathan, the video has been featured as an ITUNES Video Of The Week and has been added to Vh1, Much Music, RAZOR, MMMU, MTV Europe and shown at numerous film festivals including the Los Angeles Film Festival and SXSW Film Festival, and was recently featured at the 2009 Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase, at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
Born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, Oren began his creative journey as a playwright. At the age of 21 he wrote and directed a play for the Israeli Fringe Theater Festival, which won the awards for best newcomer writer and director. He later moved to London on a scholarship to attend the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. While still at school he wrote a play he later directed in an Off West-end theater to critical acclaim. The production was named by Time-Out London as one of the best 5 shows in London during its run. Oren moved to NY where he gradually began to shift his focus from playwriting to a shorter form of storytelling, the song. Two years later he relocated to Berlin and began work on The Opposite Side of The Sea. Oren has been living in Los Angeles, touring and promoting his debut album, The Opposite Side Of The Sea which was release in the US on March 10, 2009.
