Legendary Bassist 'Ready' Freddie Washington Finds His 'Moment' On Debut Release

New York (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - The legendary bassist Freddie Washington has played on sessions or on tour with a "dazzling" (AllMusic) list of notables, including Herbie Hancock, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Leonard Cohen, and is now touring worldwide with Steely Dan. But he's never released a solo record - until now.

On his long-awaited debut 'In The Moment' (RFW Productions), "Ready" Freddie writes and produces a "well-dressed... pocket-perfect outing" that "reinvents the concept of 'quiet storm'" (Bass Player). At the forefront is Freddie's impeccable, lyrical playing, which fuses jazz, gospel, R&B and pop. Washington holds down the lead over smooth grooves where spacious synthesizers, elastic guitars and slinky horns are layered over Freddie's own velvety production. Washington has hundreds of credits in a wide range of genres, and is no stranger to hits, as musician, producer and composer. "Forget-Me-Nots," the 1982 gold single he wrote with Patrice Rushen, has been heavily sampled by many artists, notably in Will Smith's 1997 blockbuster smash "Men in Black. His "Someone For Me," written with Raymond Jones, appeared on the platinum 'Whitney Houston' in 1985.

Rushen works with Washington again on 'In The Moment,' contributing Fender Rhodes and string arrangements. The album also features the talents of other legendary musicians, including Joe Sample, Wah Wah Watson, Deniece Williams and Ray Parker, Jr.
