LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Capitol/ EMI) - On July 27, guitar legend George Thorogood will perform and speak about his career at an exclusive Guitar Center Sessions event at Guitar Center Hollywood. He will also sign CD copies of his new Capitol/EMI album, The Dirty Dozen, to be released July 28, at the free event which begins at 7pm.

Thorogood's appearance for Guitar Center's popular Guitar Center Sessions series (www.guitarcenter.com/sessions) will focus on George's historic role in the evolution of blues guitar, the secrets behind his instantly recognizable finger-picking and slide technique as well as his distinguished career. Presented in conjunction with Gibson Guitars and Capitol/EMI, the event is free and open to the public, and fans in attendance will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase Thorogood's new CD before it is available in stores the following day.

George Thorogood & The Destroyers have returned to Capitol/EMI for the release of The Dirty Dozen, a scorching new blues-rock album pairing six new studio recordings with six classic fan favorites, including three popular tracks that were previously out-of-print in the U.S. The album will be widely available on CD and digitally, and it will also be exclusively available for purchase on vinyl LP at Thorogood's official site, www.georgethorogood.com, and at the band's concerts on tour. Thorogood & The Destroyers are traveling to more than 30 U.S. cities this summer on a tour that includes 22 co-headlining dates with Jonny Lang.

George Thorogood & The Destroyers released their self-titled debut album in 1977 and quickly established themselves as radio favorites and as a touring machine. They signed with EMI for their major label debut, 1982's Bad To The Bone, and they recorded seven studio albums during their tenure with the label, departing after 1997's Rockin' My Life Away. Described as "the world's greatest bar band," the group has had tremendous success with Thorogood's original compositions like "You Talk Too Much," "I Drink Alone," and of course "Bad To The Bone;" he's also had hits with covers of iconic blues-rock songs like "Who Do You Love" (Bo Diddley), "Move It On Over" (Hank Williams) and "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" (John Lee Hooker). 2004's Greatest Hits: 30 Years Of Rock was Billboard's No 1 Blues Album in 2004 and 2005, and the band's 12th studio album, 2006's The Hard Stuff, hit No 2 on Billboard's Blues chart.

Designed to provide informative, provocative conversation and hands-on tutorials, Guitar Center Sessions serves as an incubator for musicians, providing them an opportunity to network with their peers in an intimate setting and gain career-fostering advice from their heroes. Past Guitar Center Sessions have featured music legends such as Slash, RZA, Pete Rock, Dave Mustaine, Dick Dale, and Joe Satriani. Other Guitar Center programs designed to foster up-and-coming musicians include Guitar Center's Drum-Off, the world's largest drum competition, Guitar Center's King of the Blues, the search for the nation's greatest undiscovered blues guitar player and Guitar Center On-Stage, a program developed to organically scout and launch unsigned artists by providing career altering opportunities through partnerships with some of the world's greatest artists.
