NEW YORK (Virgin press release) - Latin superstar Thalia, who has sold over 7 million albums worldwide and achieved enormous success in her native Mexico, as well as in Europe, Puerto Rico and Asia, has finished recording her first English CD, set to be released July 8th on Virgin records. The albums first single, "I Want You", a duet with Fat Joe, has already begun climbing the radio charts with major market adds on its first week!

The singer, who is a household name among Latinos, will call her first English CD, "Thalia." Many of the hottest producers worked with the singer on her first English effort. They include Steve Morales (Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias), Rick Wake (Anastacia, Marc Anthony) and Cory Rooney (JLo, Destiny's Child) to name a few. Also, songwriters Cathy Denis (Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion) and Kara Dioguardi (Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias) contribute to the effort.

Thalia ended 2002 as the top female Latin singing star. Thalia's self titled Latin album, which was released in March of 2002, topped the charts through out most of last year, even staying at the number one spot for 6 consecutive weeks. The album went multi-platinum and produced three number one singles.
The album also spun Thalia's first ever top 10 dance hit, "The Mexican," on Billboard's Hot Dance Chart. "The Mexican" an English song on her Latin CD, featured Marc Anthony and took on a life of its own in dance clubs across the nation. At this time, she has 2 albums competing against each other on the Latin Charts.

Since Thalia's solo singing career began in 1990, she has released nine solo albums that have all gone platinum across the world. The singer has performed on several television shows across the nation including the Latin Grammy awards and The Rosie O'Donnell show. She has received many accolades in her career including two awards at this year's Latin Billboard awards - Best Female Pop Album of The Year and People's Choice Award. This month Thalia is once again named one of People Espanol's 25 most beautiful people.
