NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Split Red Records) - In 2007, concert promoter/band manager Michael Berg reignited a musical spark from his formative years by picking up an acoustic guitar. Taking inspiration from the many talented bands he has worked with and his own passion for music, the singer/songwriter began the writing process. After building up a solid repertoire of folk ballads, gritty alt-country tunes and classic rock-laced jams, Berg assembled an all-star cast of musicians and named the project Van Ghost. With an exquisite six-piece band in tow, Berg made his live debut before a packed house at Chicago's revered Metro in January 2008. It was an auspicious beginning for one of Chicago's most promising new acts. That promise shines through on Melodies For Lovers (Split Red Records), a visceral introduction to a band that has already shared the stage with The Drive By Truckers, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Cracker and The Derek Trucks Band. Now, hot on the heels of two extraordinary solo sets at this year's Rothbury Festival, Michael Berg reassembles Van Ghost for a performance at Wicker Park Fest, the official CD release for Melodies for Lovers. About Wicker Park Fest Historic, yet cutting edge, Chicago's Wicker Park offers a variety of lifestyle options, including distinctive art, acclaimed restaurants and a trend-setting music scene.
