New York (Top40 Charts/ janaperi.com) - Rocker JANA PERI (www.janaperi.com) will treat her native city to a dose of NYC power pop and rock 'n' roll with a live performance at club, Arlene's Grocery, Tuesday July 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM. PERI will share the bill with modern rock trio, THE BRIAN BOGGESS GROUP (www.myspace.com/brianboggessgroup), who hits the stage at 8:00 PM. Arlene's (www.arlenesgrocery.net) is located at 95 Stanton Street (phone: 212-995-1652) and admission is $8.

JANA PERI and her band never fail to excite audiences with their energetic live shows. PERI, accompanied by musicians JACOB CALLIS (bass guitar/background vocals) and NED STROH (drums/background vocals) will play some newer material, as well as showcase songs from her CD, Catching Flies With Vinegar, which was produced by Daniel Rey, best known for his work with seminal NY punk band, The Ramones. The CD boasts the track, 'Go Ahead' (which was also included on the 2004 International Pop Overthrow - Volume 7 compilation on power pop and melodic rock label, Not Lame) as well as 'I Wanna Rock' for which PERI just premiered a music video in June 2009. The video, directed by Los Angeles-based videographer Chip Mauro, features footage from her most recent UK tour and can be viewed online at PERI's website as well as YouTube.com.

Catching Flies With Vinegar continues to garner glowing reviews from the media. The Village Voice called PERI 'ballsy' and her songs 'effervescent.' NJ's Asbury Park Press said, 'The tracks have a Beatleseque quality, but they also pack a punch reminiscent of Chrissie Hynde's finest moments with the Pretenders' and described PERI as having 'a rock star's aura, something that's on the edge of extinction." Catching Flies With Vinegar is the follow-up to PERI's critically acclaimed, self-titled debut EP, which contained 'Dating Sucks' (the song that ROCKRGRL Magazine chose for the lead track on its Discoveries 2004 compilation) and also 'The La La Song' (a song inspired by her travels in England). The singer/songwriter/guitarist shot a music video for the song while on a short solo electric tour of the UK in 2004. The highlight of the tour was a performance at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club that features prominently in the video. Having been so well-received by UK audiences, she expects to return once again in 2010, armed with new songs.

In addition to a busy schedule with her own band, PERI can occasionally be seen performing at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater with keyboardist, Joe McGinty's NYC tribute band, Loser's Lounge (www.loserslounge.com). Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 PM, she will interpret Don Henley's 1980s hit 'The Boys Of Summer' at The Loser's Lounge Battle Of The Bands: Neil Young vs. The Eagles. PERI appears on two Loser's Lounge CDs: an ABBA tribute (singing 'Waterloo' in a duet with singer/songwriter Patti Rothberg) and a tribute to The Kinks (singing 'I'm Not Like Everybody Else'). With the superb Loser's Lounge musicians backing her, PERI has done everything from dressing up as Michael Jackson and performing 'Beat It' to singing 'Wild, Wild Life' to a packed house in a Talking Heads tribute at famed punk club, CBGB's, just days before it closed in 2006. Her colorful interpretation of the song landed her in a feature on the club that aired repeatedly on NYC cable TV news channel, NY1.

THE BRIAN BOGGESS GROUP is a high energy modern rock trio that reflects an eclectic blend of classic influences. BRIAN BOGGESS (guitar/vocals) is backed by a rock solid rhythm section consisting of former professional French boxer FABRICE CALMETTES on bass and MARC FRIEDLANDER on drums. Since 2004, the band has slowly but surely been developing an audience within the NYC club circuit (most frequently performing at Arlene's Grocery and The Knitting Factory) and is now making regional appearances. Lyrically, their songs explore a tongue-in-cheek dark side to failed relationships, manic depression, friendship, and the political economy. The BRIAN BOGGESS GROUP's debut EP is slated for release on vinyl in the fall of 2009.
