New York (Top40 Charts/ Kid Cuci PR/ Paper Magazine) - New York's iconic Paper magazine celebrates the release of its summer music issue by hosting the biggest music event in its history - a free concert featuring hipster-hip-hopper Kid Cudi, with prep-pop duo Chester French, and DJ sets by Brooklyn noise-rock legends Les Savy Fav. The concert, Sounds Like Paper 2009 - presented by Ray-Ban - is slated to kick off at 5:30 p.m. this Friday, June 26, on the Pier 17 stage at The Seaport. More information is available at www.southstreetseaport.com and www.papermag.com. About the Artists Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Kid Cudi has called Brooklyn home for the past three years. His music fuses alternative rock, hip hop and occasionally R & B, to form feel good and emotionally conscious records. His content is filled with witty explanations about himself and his life journeys, with a twist of story telling scenarios. His first single "Day N Nite" is a conscious awareness record about his faults and how he deals with them. Chester French - already famous for their connection to Pharrell Williams, who signed the unclassifiable duo to his Star Trak/Interscope label after an early copy of an album the pair recorded largely in a dorm basement studio while students at Harvard - consists of D.A. Wallach and Max Drummey. As Chester French, they are seeking to prove that pop music can be at once challenging and accessible. With the bracing, involving and always-surprising set of pop-art songs on their debut album Love the Future, the duo has made a bold statement that's as delightful as it is ambitious.
