New York (Top40 Charts/ Spotlight 29 Casino) - There are bands, and then there are the bands that others aspire to be. Grand Funk Railroad is one of those bands, inspiring future bands like Foreigner and Van Halen with their hard-driving sound. Now Grand Funk Railroad is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a 40-city tour that will stop for a one-night-only concert at Spotlight 29 Casino on August 15.

Tickets for Grand Funk Railroad are on sale now and are priced at $45, $40, $35 and $25. For tickets, visit Spotlight29.com, the Spotlight 29 Casino Gift Shop or call (800) 585-3737. Show time is 8 p.m. Under 21 must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.

Started in Flint, Mich., in 1969, Grand Funk has since had 19 charted singles and eight Top 40 hits. The band's two No. One singles, "We're An American Band" and "Locomotion," have both sold more than one million copies each. In addition to the hit singles, Grand Funk has racked up 13 gold and 10 platinum records and sales in excess of 25 million copies worldwide. They earned their most recent gold on May 10, 2002, for their greatest hits package Grand Funk Railroad The Collectors Series.

Still THE "American Band," today's Grand Funk includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums) and bassist Mel Schacher. 38 Special vet Max Carl is on vocals; lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS; and keyboardist Tim Cashion has played with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and Robert Palmer.

Celebrate the 3rd annual Summer of Fun at Spotlight 29 Casino, the Coachella Valley's most exciting place to play. Spotlight 29 Casino is a business venture of the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. Turn it on at www.Spotlight29.com.
