NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Hispanic Community Website) - Singer/songwriter Patty Cabrera will perform at the 2003 National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast Thurs., May 15 at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, D.C. During this second annual bilingual event, President Bush will address the crucial role of the Hispanic faith community in creating solutions to our nation's problems. The breakfast, hosted by Nueva Esperanza, Inc., will be attended by 1,000 members of the Hispanic clergy, making it one of the largest gatherings of its kind ever to take place in Washington, D.C.

Performances by Cabrera and other internationally acclaimed Latin artists Julissa, Festival, Motivo, Rene Gonzalez, and Jayne Marie Flores are the highlights of the two-hour breakfast, along with remarks by Nueva Esperanza founder Rev. Luis Cortes, President Bush and other speakers. Cabrera plans to sing two selections from her Love Someone Like Me record (Patrona Productions), including her hit single "America," and "Love Someone Like Me," the 2003 Dove Award nominated Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. Cabrera will also be one of the featured artists at a Worship Concert celebration later that evening as she performs additional tracks from her solo project.

The historic breakfast is held to underscore the value of Hispanics' many charitable contributions, as well as the increasing influence of the Hispanic faith community and their special partnership with political leaders of both parties. In addition to President Bush's address, Congressional leaders including Secretary Tommy Thompson (Dept. of HHS) and Honorable Nancy Pelosi will give greetings at the breakfast. Clergy from around the nation will offer up prayers for the nation and Hispanic community. Political leadership from the House and Senate will share their ideas and thoughts about issues of faith.

Nueva Esperanza, Inc. is headquartered in Philadelphia and operates a variety of programs addressing the problems faced by the Hispanic community. Founded in 1987, it conducts a charter high school and a two-year junior college, as well as an array of job training programs. Nueva Esperanza has also built and rehabilitated 100 single-family homes, and helped over 1,200 families obtain their first mortgage.

As a bilingual artist of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent, Cabrera's musical influences range from Salsa and Merengue, to Motown and James Taylor. Featured by People magazine as one of their "50 Most Beautiful People in the World," Cabrera has also graced the pages of numerous magazines and media outlets. Cabrera also serves as the spokesperson for Metro Ministries in New York City, a progressive mission reaching each week more than 20,000 urban youth ensnared in a battleground of drugs, violence and abuse. Cabrera's work with Metro Ministries is based around annual music camps and seminars that she has created for the inner city kids in Brooklyn and other worldwide cities that follow the model of Metro Ministries International.

Patrona Productions is a Los Angeles based production company founded by Cabrera which produces and represents artists in the American and Latin markets.
