LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Jim Campilongo Official Website) - Jim Campilongo has performed with artists such as Martha Wainwright and Norah Jones. He is currently recording his next studio release in Brooklyn, New York, and the disc's physical release will be August. Additionally, a new documentary film about Campilongo is slated to begin shooting in June. Titled simply Jim Campilongo, it will include a few cover of Iggy and The Stooges as well as Duke Ellington composer Billy Strayhorn. Leah Seigall contributes vocals. Campilongo is tackling this recording differently. He says, "In the past I felt a few of my tracks may have been too evocative of a style such as country, western swing or jazz. What makes this recording different is that I trusted my own sound on all the tracks." And that is the rare tone and taste one hears when you see Jim Campilongo play live. It is a unique stlye that defies imitation. Campilongo has a prolific, remarkably varied and impressive body of work that has recently been featured on the critically acclaimed 2006 release by a side project titled The Little Willies with Norah Jones. After touring with Jones to support the disc, Campilongo was then called upon to tour with Martha Wainright. In 2007, Campilongo went into the studio to record his own album, Heaven is Creepy. Look for the film in the year ahead. Learn more at jimcampilongo.com.
