LONDON, UK (Primary Talent International) - Peter Gabriel has won this years Polar Music Prize, jointly with classical composer Jose Antonio Abreu. They will each receive one million kroner (84,000) from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and be presented with their awards by King Carl XVI Gustaf at a gala ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall on the 31st August. The Polar Music Prize was founded by former ABBA manager, Stig Anderson back in 1989. It is Sweden's biggest music award and is always split between pop and classical musicians. The committee praised Peter Gabriel for his "ground-breaking, outward looking and boundary-busting artistry" and added that he had "not only had a significant influence on the development of poplar music - he has redefined the very concept."
